Beverly native and Chicago Blackhawks skating coach Paul Vincent a legendary figure in hockey circles

BOSTON — The defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks were in town last night to face the Boston Bruins, and most of the team’s stars were there: captain Jonathan Toews, sniper Marian Hossa, American-born scoring star Patrick Kane, rock-solid defenseman Duncan Keith and the like.
Paul Vincent was not with them. The 64-year-old was halfway across the country in Rockford, Ill. working with some of the Blackhawks’ top young prospects on their skating and stickhandling in hopes of making their eventual jump to the NHL a bit easier.
Officially, the long-time Beverly resident’s title is that of Skating and Skills Coach. Unofficially, Vincent serves a myriad of other roles for this Original 6 franchise, including teacher, mentor, master motivator, father figure and friend…
